Others probably..

  • Expect you to be jolly.
  • Assume you're lazy.
  • Misunderstand and underestimate halfling culture as simple.

Physical descriptor

Halfings are short, and slightly rotund folks. They often have rough hands and hard leathered feet. They rarely wear shoes, most finding them uncomfortable for their large and hairy feet. The average halfling while small and a little fat are generally quite strong for their size. They work hard jobs farming and ranching for their local towns.

Society

Halfling society is far from simple, they are intricately intertwined in family history. Much of their culture revolves around tight nit communities and villages, with many being connected to mafias and gangs. From an outsiders perspective much of halfling life is little more than dinners, parties and socializing; However the halflings engage in these events with a seriousness unseen by others. Every dinner is a competition between cultural dishes, evert song is a brag or diss to another family, and all their parties are intricate court events where people play social games and maneuver politically for power.

Beliefs

Halflings have simple beliefs, they value freedom and the families around them. They preserve culture and find a deep connection with the soil and crops they grow. They are hearty folk who don't offend easily, but when a halfling is offended you have earned an enemy for life.

Name Examples

Their names are often polite and proper.

  • Ellington Bullroar
  • Dilly Hardfoot
  • Sally Flowertop
